To register a breed in the directory, you need 3 karma points. Each player can have a maximum of 3 breeding farms.

A breeding farm officially registered in the directory groups together individuals of one and the same breed belonging to the same player, regardless of who gave birth to them.

The directory enables the breeders to monitor and showcase their work. It also enables the player to find the horse corresponding to the one they are looking for, to buy it, or a stallion, for example, even if the latter is not for sale or has not made a covering yet.

All breeding farms are given a name and build their reputation on the horses they give birth to. You can register an affix and add it to the name of the horses you give birth to. This affix may not be deleted by the future owners of horses born from your breeding farm. You cannot add it to the name of horses which are not born in your breeding farm.

To be able to register an affix you need to have at least two horses, and you can register it once again each time your karma increases by 2 points. You can create your affixes using the link found on your office's page. By clicking on the affix, you will have access to the list of horses and ponies bearing it.

A breeder can have several affixes and assign them depending on the breeds they raise for example or to be able to distinguish different lines within a breed or such or such a breed.

On the horse's or pony's page, you will find the name of the breeder that gave birth to it. It is possible to see all the foals produced by one player from his page using the link "See the production".

You will be able to see this star when you have passed your fourth Riding Level which gives access to the genetics and origins.

There are numerous breeds on Howrse both for horses and for ponies. You can distinguish the purebred horses or ponies from crosses between different breeds thanks to the blue stars of the origins which indicate the percentage of each breed present in the ancestors of the horse or pony. Purebred horses are marked on their owner's page with a blue star.
